The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust recognises and is committed to meeting or exceeding its legal duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999 (Amended), in particular Regulation 11 regarding the co-operation and coordination of health and safety matters where two or more organisations share a workplace. The Trust, as the major employer and controller of most of the site, will take the lead in co-ordinating the management of health and safety matters. This document is particularly concerned with the management of contractors carrying out works for and on behalf of the Trust, its agents and others based on sites owned or controlled by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. All contractors and contracting organisations will be provided with comprehensible information and instruction relevant to their activities and locations in which the work will be undertaken.
